LPL: Pinball in the Capital City

The Lansing Pinball League is the Capital City’s own IFPA-endorsed pinball league.  We are open to all players regardless of skill level and new players may join at any time.  Just show up at a league night and let us know you want to play.  We’re a casual and fun bunch including highly skilled players, enthusiastic novices, and everything in between.

We meet (usually) the second and fourth Tuesdays at The Avenue Café in Lansing’s east side (2021 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing, Michigan), about midway between the MSU campus and the Capitol.  The exception is August, since The Avenue is closed Tuesdays; in August we meet on the second and fourth Wednesdays.  The competition starts at 7:00 p.m., though many arrive early to practice and play the side tournament.  Our next season, Season 22, begins on January 14, 2025.  New members can join anytime during the first five meetings of the season, and you must attend at least four of the eight meetings in a season to qualify for the final tournament.  We also allow guest players to join any session except finals.  Dues are $10 for the season, paid in cash to the league director.

Our side tournament, known as Tuesday Night Smackdown, is a single-game qualifying tournament.  Each player gets two attempts on a randomly-chosen game, with the best one counting.  After league finishes, we have a single-game playoff among the top four.  Qualifying takes place after the league director or assistant arrives, usually around 6 pm, and suspends at league start time.  Players can then begin qualifying again once their league group finishes as long as league hasn’t completely ended for the night.  Once the last player finishes the league night, qualifying ends and finals are held.
